We’re proud to share that the Medicine Hat Fish & Games Association was recently honoured with the Dennis Hindbo Predator Control Award at the AWF Conference.

The Dennis Hindbo Predator Control Award is awarded to the club or individual who has made an outstanding contribution to predator control.
The Medicine Hat Fish and Game Association has proven exceptional leadership in responsible predator management and their commitment to protecting both wildlife and agricultural communities.
In partnership with APOS, the Medicine Hat club launched an innovative Coyote Management Incentive Program in response to the collapse of the coyote fur market, a shift that led to reduced predator control and a rapid rise in coyote populations. This increase had serious consequences, including significant losses to livestock and declining numbers of vulnerable wildlife species.
To address this challenge, the Association established a targeted management program within Cypress County, setting a quota of 500 coyotes. The response from local participants was immediate and effective, the quota was reached in just two weeks, demonstrating both the urgency of the issue and the community’s commitment to restoring balance on the landscape.
The Medicine Hat club’s proactive approach, collaboration, and dedication to conservation-minded predator control embody the values this award represents.
Congratulations to the recipient of this year’s Dennis Hindbo Predator Control Award, the Medicine Hat Fish and Game Association
