MHFGA Coyote Management Incentive Program
Equal funding of this program has been provided by the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society (APOS) and the Medicine Hat Fish and Game Association (MHFGA)
Collapse of the coyote fur market has led to reduced coyote management, resulting in an excessive coyote population. This now has created significant losses to agricultural livestock and wildlife prey species .

2025 Coyote Management Incentive Program- Expanded Rules
Medicine Hat Fish and Game Association and Alberta Professional Outfitters Society recognize the fact that coyotes are a part of the natural environment and therefore play a critical role in wildlife dynamics. Problems occur when the population dynamics become unbalanced. When this occurs as in the case of coyotes, not only are other wildlife populations affected, but also agricultural livestock and even humans. Therefore MHFGA /APOS are taking a proactive approach to not only protect agricultural livestock, but also wildlife and in extreme cases human life.
